Hi, I’m Destiny Burns, a passionate piano teacher, public speaker, and mentor.
Whether you’re a parent hoping to ignite your child’s musical journey or you are looking for a dynamic speaker, I’m glad you’re here.

Where
music & mentorship
shape confident voices

I’ve spent the last 18 years studying and performing piano, and the past five years teaching students of all ages. My love for music began in elementary school during my very first lessons. From fourth grade through high school, I competed in multiple piano competitions each year, shaping my discipline, deepening my passion, and guiding me toward the path I’m on today.

In college, I fell in love with collaborating and accompanying others, which led me to pursue music education. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and am continuing graduate-level study, including the completion of a graduate piano recital featuring close to one hour of memorized solo repertoire!

Teaching is truly one of my greatest joys. I love connecting with each student, meeting them where they are, and watching their confidence and creativity unfold. Whether a child is just beginning or an older student is rediscovering their love for piano, I’m committed to creating a patient, encouraging environment where every learner can thrive. My heart is to help each student discover their own unique musical voice while cultivating a lifelong love for music.

Alongside teaching, I also speak at events and gatherings, sharing uplifting messages about faith, trusting God, identity, and living with purpose. Encouraging others…whether through music or words…is one of the most fulfilling parts of what I do, and I love creating spaces where people feel inspired, seen, and supported.

Hello Budding Musician,

Meet Destiny Burns

FAVORITE HOBBY
I truly love to read. I have so many favorite books that I couldn’t possibly choose just one. If it has pages, I’ll probably read it.

CHILDHOOD DREAMS
One of my earliest dreams was to become a children’s book author… or even a news broadcaster. So if you see me on a bookshelf or on TV one day, just know it started right here.

FAVORITE FOOD
Spaghetti or honestly anything pasta. If there’s noodles involved, I’m a happy human.

WHY I LOVE PENSACOLA
My favorite thing about Pensacola is definitely my church community. Fun fact: I’m a pastor’s kid, so being surrounded by a warm, faith-filled family environment means everything to me. I also love the small-town feel mixed with rich, vibrant local culture. It’s the kind of place where you feel known.

My daughter has been taking piano lessons with Destiny for two years now, and it’s been such a wonderful experience! In her very first year competing in the City Sonata Competition, she earned 2nd place under Destiny’s guidance. Destiny has a gift for connecting with her students — she challenges my daughter in every lesson while keeping the joy of music alive. My daughter looks forward to each class and practices eagerly between lessons to meet (and exceed!) Destiny’s expectations. We’re so grateful for her patient and inspiring teaching! 🎹💫

In January of this year I came across this talented woman name Destiny Burns on social media playing piano. My son, Izaiah, had been taking piano for many years but we were looking to advance his skill set and take him to the next level. Destiny has been an absolute God send for Izaiah. He has thrived under her direction. She has been professional from the beginning. Her communication and time management is excellent but best of all our son excelling! We can not recommend Destiny enough. Our family is grateful for her and looking forward to many more years with her.

Destiny has been teaching my son, Max, for the past two years, and the growth we’ve seen has been remarkable. She’s not only taught him how to play piano but how to love the process — to practice, to be patient, and to believe in himself. Her encouragement and calm, consistent approach have built his confidence in ways that reach far beyond music. We couldn’t ask for a better teacher or role model.

Piano Lessons with Miss Burns means excellence at its best. My son had the opportunity to advance his knowledge in piano with Miss Burns for one entire year. It was the best experience we have had with his lessons. We plan on continuing lessons because there has been such a tremendous growth. For the first time, my son does not complain about practicing and loves to learn more and more. Thank you Miss Burns.

As parents, we are always looking for opportunities that not only enrich our children's lives today but also prepare them for a strong, confident, and capable future. One of the most powerful investments you can make in your child’s development is….

Stay in the loop with practice tips, student openings, upcoming events, recital announcements, and blog posts designed to help you nurture your child’s confidence, identity, and creativity through music. You’ll also receive thoughtful reflections on faith and growth along the way.

Stay Tuned With Destiny

Thank you!

While I’m able to work with students as young as three, most beginners start around age seven. That’s typically when they’re developmentally ready to get the most out of their lessons.

What is the typical age of a beginner student?

Yes! One of the most exciting parts of studying piano with me is getting the chance to perform. Students enjoy two annual recital (one at Christmas and one in May) and also have the option to participate in local competitions through the Pensacola Music Teachers Association. There’s always something to look forward to!

Do you offer performance opportunities?

I completely understand that life happens! If you need to cancel, just reach out as soon as you can, and we’ll coordinate a makeup lesson that works for both of us.

What if I have to cancel a lesson?

FAQS

I’m so excited you’re ready to get started! Just contact me with your availability and your goals, and we’ll get your first lesson on the calendar.

How do I set up my first lesson?

My oldest student right now is a wonderful woman in her forties. I work with both men and women so candidly, if you’re alive and your fingers work, I’d be thrilled to work with you! It’s never too late to start.

What is the oldest student you teach?

I’m happy to make payments as easy and convenient as possible for you! You’re welcome to pay weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly (whatever fits your rhythm best). I accept Cash App, Venmo, and Zelle, and I’m always willing to work with the payment method you prefer. My goal is to keep things simple and flexible so you can focus on enjoying your lessons!

How does payment work and what payment methods do you accept?

Ideally, yes. Having your own piano is the best way to make steady progress between lessons. While I do have options to rent studio space if needed, practicing at home on your own instrument will give you the most rewarding experience.
